We are pleased to inform you of a new member of the Northwest Elementary School team! Kim McKeown will be joining us as our new Associate Principal, replacing Jim Poirier, who will be moving on to Northeast Elementary as the new Principal Educator.
Kim joined us on June 28, 2013 as a High School math and science teacher. Kim comes to FFCA having spent time as an elementary teacher and reading facilitator in Montana, Southern Alberta and teaching overseas in China. Kim earned her Bachelor’s degree at Hiram College in Ohio (2005) and a Master’s in Education in Teaching and Learning Mathematics and Educational Neuroscience from the University of Calgary (2022).
Kim shares the following thought on joining FFCA and taking on this role: “I am incredibly excited and honoured to be joining the team at NWE as an Associate Principal. After many rewarding years at the high school level, it feels truly meaningful to now be part of the beginning of our students’ educational journeys. I’m deeply thankful to the many mentors and colleagues at FFCA who have encouraged and inspired me along the way. While I will miss the amazing staff and students at the high school, I look forward to embracing this new challenge with energy, purpose, and a deep passion for learning.”
